There will undoubtedly come a time in your life where you are faced with a problem that needs to be overcome. Importantly, how you approach this problem may determine whether you ‘stay stuck’ or ‘move forward’.
As such, in this rather direct, but helpful nonetheless TED Talk, Dr. Lani Nelson Zlupko provides strategies to overcome personal or work-related problems. Below are just several of many key points from her TED Talk.
When faced with a problem, and tasked with overcoming it, ‘people tend to remain stuck when they use a problem-focused lens; they ask problem-focused questions and get problem-focused answers’.
Instead of doing this, take the time to acknowledge the problem, but then ‘turn, learn, and move forward’: turn away from the problem; learn appropriate strategies to overcome the problem; and, move forward 180 degrees in the opposite direction to the problem.
And, remember that there will be bumps along the way, but try to view these as opportunities – and, persist.
